How Shengji works
This version uses four players, two standard decks including jokers, and an eight-card kitty. One partnership defends; the other attacks by collecting points from tricks.
| Card | Points |
|---|---|
| 5 | 5 |
| 10 or K | 10 |
| Other cards | 0 |
- Declare trump during the deal. A level card can declare its suit as trump. Eligible pairs can override weaker declarations. Jokers and all cards matching the level are always trump.
- Prepare the kitty. The dealer takes the eight remaining cards, then buries eight cards face down.
- Follow the lead. Play singles, matching pairs, or consecutive pairs called tractors. Follow the led suit and required pattern when you can. A winning trump play can beat a non-trump play when the player is out of the led suit.
- Collect points and level up. The attacking team aims for 80 points by default. The result decides the next defending team and level advancement.
Shengji has many regional rules. This app includes Chao Di (抄底) after the first deal, mandatory defending levels, and penalties for failed combination leads. The in-game Rules reference explains this version’s full rules.
The last trick matters
If the attackers win the last trick, the kitty is revealed and its scoring cards earn a multiplied bonus. If defenders win it, the kitty stays hidden and adds no attacking points.
